Samsung Armani - Just A Standard Feature Phone In A Designer Packaging

A number of feature phones come in the market now a days. With Samsung Armani, the electronics giant from the far east seems to have done nothing more than add a fancy brand name and touch screen to its run of the mill feature phone. To be very direct, Samsung has offered you old wine in a shiny, new, designer bottle! The phone is quite a looker, there is absolutely no denying this fact! Other than that, Samsung Armani has almost nothing to write home about.

To begin with this is not a 3G device! Samsung needs to do a lot of thinking in this regard. Most of the networks and markets where the phone is targeted are markets with 3G connections. People have become used to things like high speed mobile internet access. Samsung Armani on the other hand comes with a Triband GSM radio that can operate in the GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 networks. The data connectivity over mobile network is available through the Class 10 GPRS service or EDGE service only. There is no high speed data connection option.

As this is a touch screen, the phone really has a good screen. But that is pretty much it. First of all there is no native API for this phone. You can not install any native third party applications on the phone. You can install some Java games on the phone and almost nothing else. Come on Samsung, you give such a great looking phone with such a gorgeous touch screen and you do not allow to install any third party applications! What a waste!

Coming up to the storage there is 60 MB on board memory. This is acceptable because the company has included a MicroSD slot on the phone. Again the company seems to have forgotten that the world has moved on to the SDHC standard.
